Calm of the Breeze, Fury of the Storm: Day 2 Results Agneepath 7.0 Report

Day 2 of Agneepath saw many Ashokan teams move to within touching distance of a gold finish.

All three men’s football teams booked their semifinal berths in convincing fashion. Ashoka Blue beat rivals Jindal 2-1 in the latest rendition of the feisty Sonipat Derby, while the Alumni and Reds eased to wins over Bennett and Aryabhatta DU 2-0 and 3-0, respectively. In the earlier fixture of the day, Ashoka Alumni finished their group stage fixtures with a 1-0 win over SNU.

Women’s football kicked off on Saturday morning with Ashoka Red winning both their matches 2-1 against BML Munjal and the Ashoka Alumni. Blue drew 0-0 with the Alumni before suffering a 2-1 defeat to Munjal. 

A dominant effort saw the Ashoka Red cricket team comfortably defend a target of 130 against Rishihood, eventually winning by 20 runs.

The men’s basketball Red team beat IIIT Delhi in a one-sided affair, while the Blue team fell short against SNU. It was then Red against Blue in the quarterfinals, with Red coming out on top and Blue being eliminated.

In women’s basketball, Ashoka Red crushed Sharda 32-2 before narrowly losing to LSR 28-33. Results were less rosy for the Blue team, who were eliminated after losses to Hansraj and Bennett.

Men’s volleyball continued their perfect record, beating SNU 2-1 to reach the semifinals. It was a day to forget, however, for the women’s Red and Blue teams, who crashed out after a winless group stage campaign.

Badminton saw both Red teams progress to Sunday’s semifinals, sweeping Rishihood (women’s) and Plaksha (men’s) by an identical 3-0 scoreline. Both Blue teams were knocked out in the evening — the women’s team lost 0-3 to Jindal and SNU, while the men’s team were defeated by Sharda by the same margin.

An eventful day of tennis saw three Ashoka teams in action. Red beat SUOH 3-0, and Blue and Alumni faced off twice — Blue won the first tie 3-1, before the Alumni team won the reverse fixture 3-2.

The men’s squash group stage kicked off with Ashoka Red losing 0-3 to SNU. Ashoka Blue went on to beat Bennett 2-1, before losing to Red 2-0. Due to a dearth of registrations, the women’s squash bracket has, sadly, been scrapped entirely.

Both table tennis red teams enjoyed a perfect day, beating Bennett 3-0, while the men’s team also defeated Symbiosis by the same score. The women’s Blue team were eliminated after defeat to SNU.

Also beginning their Agneepath action was the shooting team, with individual preliminary efforts in contention till Sunday afternoon and the finals directly afterwards.

Pool fixtures saw Ashoka Red beat SRCC and Ashoka Blue lose to Manipal Jaipur, while snooker saw twin defeats and elimination against Manipal Jaipur and BML Munjal.

And it was Red v Blue in chess, with the former going through to the semifinals at the expense of the latter.
