APL 8.0 Day 1 Roundup

APL 8.0 kicked off with a goal-filled first day that saw six teams get off the mark in the tournament. 

Waterfall FC have taken an early lead in Group A, having drawn their fixtures against Magic Moments and defending champions Patiala House. Both Magic Moments and Patiala House both played once and will be looking to get ahead in tomorrow’s fixtures, while early group favourites Shin City are yet to get their tournament underway. 

In Group B, HR26 are on the highway to qualification after drawing against 0-100 and beating Suii Squad courtesy of a Snehal Papnoi free kick. That loss consigns Suii Squad to bottom of the group, while Chai 424 will be looking to impose themselves on the group when they get underway tomorrow.

Kai Mantos are the early favourites in Group C, having drawn their game against Fast Break and beaten BroCode 1-0 with a Yashwanth Reddy goal. Fast Break sit in second with two draws against Kai Mantos and Kings’ Concubine, while BroCode sit bottom of the group following the defeat. 

Things are tightly packed in Group D, where all four teams have played and drawn their opening games. Ubermensch United and Real Babble played out an impressive 1-1 draw, with Bhavin Shivaa and Dawood trading goals. Nox Billi and A2Z played out an intense goalless draw in the other fixture of the group. 

Group E is also tightly packed together. Pineapple FC held onto two draws despite their injury concerns, while Wu Shang FC were unable to make their impressive performances count for more than two draws. Dosai Dominators and Mars FC both have a draw each as well.

Dolla Sign and Elephant FC have both pulled clear in Group F, with four points each from their two games each. Dolla Sign overcame Lovsy FC courtesy of a Khem goal, while Elephant beat Sharpshooters courtesy of Karthik Sridhar’s winner. Fuel Zone Warriors and Sharpshooters also played out a goalless draw.
